S'pore man, 22, arrested after assaulting & robbing man of S$190 at Dunlop Street

The offender was arrested within 20 hours of the robbery.

The police arrested a 22-year-old man on Nov. 8 for assaulting and robbing a 28-year-old man of about S$190.

According to a police news release, the police were alerted to the incident at 3:55am, which took place along Dunlop Street.

Robbed

Preliminary investigations revealed that the 22-year-old man allegedly lured the victim to a back alley.

He then assaulted the victim and demanded that he hand over whatever cash he had.

The victim eventually handed over about S$190 in cash.

In addition, the victim sustained injuries and was conveyed conscious to the hospital.

Arrested

After the incident, officers from the Central Police Division identified the man and arrested him within 20 hours.

This was done through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from CCTVs and police cameras.

The clothes worn by the man during the incident were also seized as case exhibits.

Penalties

Following his arrest, the man will be charged in court on Nov. 10 for robbery with hurt under Section 394 of the Penal Code 1871.

If convicted, the man is liable to a jail term of not less than five years and not more than 20 years, and not less than 12 strokes of the cane.
