98.5 per cent of students who sat for the 2025 Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) were assessed to be suitable for secondary school.

According to a joint press release by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board (SEAB) on Nov. 25, a total of 37,926 students sat for the PSLE this year.

Candidates who did not qualify can re-attempt the PSLE in 2026, or choose to apply to Assumption Pathway School (APS) and NorthLight School (NLS).

These schools offer "customised programmes with a more experiential and hands-on learning approach".

Those who have attempted the PSLE once can apply to these schools with a recommendation from their primary school principal.

Full Subject-Based banding

Students who are eligible for Posting Groups 1 and 2 may take English Language, Mother Tongue Languages, Mathematics, and Science subjects at a more demanding level from Secondary One.

This will depend on their Achievement Level (AL) scores for the respective subject:

  • Students who scored AL 5 or better for a PSLE Standard subject can take the subject at G3 or G2.
  • Students who scored AL 6 for a PSLE Standard subject or AL A for a PSLE Foundation subject can take the subject at G2.

About 65 per cent of students eligible for Posting Groups 1 and 2 can take at least one subject at a more demanding level.

According to MOE and SEAB, this is comparable to 2024's cohort.

Secondary One posting exercise

Those eligible for secondary school courses will be given the S1 Option Form together with their PSLE results.

Parents can make their submissions through the online S1 portal, which is accessible through MOE's S1 posting website.

The website can be accessed between 11:30am on Nov. 25 and 4:30pm on Dec. 1.

A valid Singpass is required to log in to the portal, and only one parent is required to log in and submit the registration.

For parents who require assistance, they may contact the student’s primary school before 4:30pm on Dec. 1.

MOH and SEAB emphasised that students and parents should consider schools holistically when choosing a secondary school — programmes, subjects, Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs), ethos, culture, location and any required Special Education Needs support.

Within their six choices, students are also encouraged to include at least two to three schools whose previous year's Cut-Off Points (COPs) less stringent than the student’s PSLE score.

However, MOH and SEAB noted that previous year's COPs only serve as a guide, as they vary yearly with each cohort’s results and choices.

By including schools with less stringent COPs, students have higher chances of securing a place in a chosen school.

Secondary One posting results

S1 Posting Results will be released on either Dec. 18 or 19, said MOH and SEAB.

The results can be accessed via:

  • S1 Portal using parents’ Singpass.
  • Short Message Service (SMS) via a local mobile number (if provided by the

    applicant during the application process).

  • The student’s primary school.

Students do not need to report to their posted secondary schools upon receiving the results.

Students should refer to their posted school's respective website for more information such as reporting details, booklist, and purchase of books and uniforms.

Parents who are on Parents Gateway will also receive instructions from the posted schools from the afternoon the S1 posting results are released.
