Namewee in remand for 3 more days until Nov. 13 as investigation into Taiwanese influencer's death continues
He was supposed to be released by Nov. 11.
Malaysian rapper Namewee, 42, has been remanded for an additional three days by police until Nov. 13 as the investigation into the death of Taiwanese influencer Hsieh Yu-hsin, 31, continues.
Namewee's lawyer Joshua Tay told media that his client, whose real name is Wee Meng Chee, is healthy and in good spirits.
Tay was speaking outside the Dang Wangi police headquarters in Kuala Lumpur on Oct. 10.
"For now, let’s just let the investigation run its course. The police said the investigation has not been completed,” he said.
Namewee surrendered to the police on Nov. 5 after Hsieh’s death was reclassified as murder from sudden death.
He was the last person seen with the woman in a hotel room in Kuala Lumpur at about 1:40pm on Oct. 22.
Hsieh had arrived in Malaysia on Oct. 20.
She was scheduled to stay until Oct. 24.
Namewee was later arrested for alleged possession and use of drugs, and was released on bail after pleading not guilty to drug-related charges on Oct. 24.
