A 35-year-old man in Malaysia has been sentenced to 104 years' imprisonment and 18 strokes of the cane for raping his two underage stepdaughters since 2020.

His stepdaughters are aged 15 and 16.

According to The Star, the man pleaded guilty to nine charges in court.

Raped them since 2020

The Star reported that at around 11am on Oct. 25, the two victims revealed to their mother that they had been raped by the accused since 2020.

The accused was subsequently arrested at 4:25pm the next day.

During mitigation, the man claimed that he deeply regretted what he had done and vowed not to commit such an offence again.

The prosecution, however, urged the court to impose a harsher sentence, saying that the man had forced the two victims to satisfy his own desires.

In delivering the verdict, the judge ordered for the sentences to run consecutively, noting that the offences were committed by the accused, who is the victims' stepfather.

“The offences occurred on multiple occasions, at different times, clearly showing a pattern of persistent abuse."

"The fact that the accused committed such heinous acts against not one but two children under his care, severely aggravates the gravity of the offences," the judge said. "The court finds that the accused has gravely breached the trust placed in him as a guardian and stepfather."

He stressed that sexual crimes against children in a familial setting, and involving more than one victim, demanded a stern response.

"The law must protect the most vulnerable members of society and perpetrators must be held fully accountable,” he said.
