An American man, 33, was found dead on Oct. 29 in a hotel room in Phuket, Thailand, after travelling there to attend a Muay Thai boot camp.
He'd apparently enrolled in the weeklong class in hopes of losing weight, The Phuket News reported.
He weighed nearly 200kg.
According to police reports, the man had told the housekeeper the day before on Oct. 28 that he felt tired and lethargic.
He asked the housekeeper to buy him snacks from a nearby 7-Eleven, and did not leave his room afterwords.
At around noon the next day, the housekeeping service knocked but received no response.
Hotel staff later unlocked the door and found him lying face up on his bed.
When the paramedics arrived, they confirmed that he was dead.
Medication found in room
Preliminary investigations revealed no signs of injury or struggle.
The man's belongings were also undisturbed.
According to the police, several types of medication were found in his room.
He'd likely died of reasons related to a chronic health condition several hours before his body was discovered, an initial medical assessment found.
His body was subsequently transferred to Vachira Phuket Hospital for a detailed autopsy.
