All condolence money will be donated to the Children's Cancer Foundation in line with the wishes of late actor Benz Hui, said his family.

In an obituary issued on Oct. 31, Hui's family described him as a "generous and open-minded man, charitable and benevolent".

Following his wishes, the family said they decided to hold a simple and low-key funeral, and donate all condolence money to charity.

"We hope to transform our grief into compassion, continue [Hui's] benevolent spirit, and ignite new hope for young lives."

The funeral service will take place on Nov. 17 at the Po Fook Memorial Hall in Hong Kong.

Wanted to retire in Singapore

Hui, a veteran Hong Kong actor and Singapore permanent resident, lived in Yishun and previously shared his plans to retire in Singapore.

He died at the age of 76 on Oct. 28.

The cause of death was multiple organ failure due to cancer, which had earlier hospitalised the actor and left him in critical condition.

He was best known for playing an undercover cop-turned-crime boss, known as Foon Hei Gor, in TVB's "Line Walker" series.

Following his death, multiple prominent people — including ex-Member of Parliament Lee Bee Wah — paid tribute to him.

On Nov. 1, his longtime friend and fellow Hong Kong actor Stanley Fung also passed away at the age of 81.

He'd earlier penned a tribute to Hui:

"Dear brother, wait for me over there. I'll follow soon."
