Two men in Singapore, aged 19 and 22, were arrested after they allegedly broke into two school canteens in Jurong West in separate cases on Nov. 17.

Cash totalling S$70 and a mobile phone were reportedly stolen, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) said on Nov. 18.

The first case was reported at around 8:05am at a school canteen along Jurong West Street 72, where the cash and mobile phone went missing.

Another similar incident was reported at about 8:25am at another school canteen along Jurong West Street 41.

No valuables were reported missing in the second case.

Police did not specify the schools involved, but West Grove Primary is at Jurong West Street 72, while Fuhua Secondary School and Yuhua Secondary School are at Jurong West Street 41.

Officers from the Jurong Police Division made the arrests within 11 hours after gathering information through investigations and images from police cameras and nearby CCTVs.

To be charged

Both men will be charged in court on Nov. 19, 2025 with housebreaking with common intention.

If found guilty, they may each be jailed up to 10 years and fined.

Members of the public are advised to practice vigilance and adopt crime prevention measures, such as securing all doors and openings with high-quality grilles and closed-shackle padlocks, avoiding keeping large sums of cash or valuables on the premises, and installing burglar alarms, motion sensor lights, and CCTVs.
