Japanese woman, in her 30s, meets over 300 men, feels attractive partner should make S$84,000 annually, still looking
She began going on dates since she was 22.
Since she was 22, a Japanese woman has gone on dates with over 300 men, searching for her ideal partner for marriage.
Over the years, she has raised her expectations, and set a specific criteria — the man must be younger, good-looking, tall, a university graduate, and earning an income of at least 10 million yen (about S$84,400) a year.
Now in her mid-30s, the woman is still looking for a partner, while sharing her "marriage-hunting" journey on X under the name "Nushi".

Higher expectations
Nushi, born into a lively, happy family in Japan's Chubu region, longed to have a similar family of her own when she grew up, as reported by Nikkan Spa.
After university, she felt envious seeing her friends get married at a young age, so she decided to sign up with matchmaking agencies and dating apps when she was 22.
Initially, she did not think about the annual income of her ideal partner, and was mainly looking for someone she could talk to.
Then, as she met and dated different men, her expectations got higher.
Nushi makes about 3 million yen (about S$25,300) a year, and is "an ordinary woman", she told Nissan Spa.
She also preferred older men at first, as her father was about seven years older than her mother.
"But as I approached my mid-thirties, I found that younger men were better," Nushi said with a laugh.
Now, she has been looking for men under 35, but that makes her search harder, as many young men are looking for women in their 20s.
Just a hobby?
Nushi has been rejected by men who were not interested in marriage or, on the flip side, wanted her to have a child with him right away.
There were also men who questioned her approach and purpose of dating.
They would see her sharing about her "marriage-hunting" on social media and say that she was not taking it seriously.
A man once asked her if she was only interested in finding a partner as a hobby.
Nushi explained to Nikkan Spa that she enjoys getting set up with matches, and wanted to share her experiences with others.
While she genuinely wants to get married, she considered that maybe she was seeing dating as a hobby — one that she has spent more than 3 million yen (about S$25,300) on so far.
Enriches her life
If going on dates was a hobby for Nushi, it's an enriching one.
She finds great excitement in the moments where she meets someone new through matchmaking for the first time.
"It's fun," she said. "Meeting and talking with people I'd never met before is a wonderful experience, no matter what the outcome."
As someone who mostly goes out just for work, and does not have many interests, Nushi sees going on matchmaking dates as a rather fulfilling experience.
"If I were only working, there are stories I wouldn't hear and a world I wouldn't know about," she said.
