A woman allegedly vomited in a private hire vehicle (PHV) and refused to compensate the driver when requested.

The incident reportedly occurred on Oct. 28 and a video of it has since gone viral on TikTok, garnering over 29k views.

"F*ck off"

In the video apparently filmed by the PHV driver, a woman who appeared intoxicated was seen stumbling out of the car while being supported by a man believed to be her husband.

Her husband can be heard offering the driver S$30 as compensation, but the driver rejected the offer and insisted on S$150 instead.

It was at this point when the woman intervened, telling her husband to stop negotiating and saying that she would handle it instead.

Threatened to call the police

She then asked the driver which PHV platform he was driving for and said that she would pay him after he answered her.

The woman also claimed that she was unaware of the booking details as her husband was the one that booked the ride.

However, when the driver refused to give her an answer, she threatened to call the police.

The driver responded by telling her to go ahead, and she proceeded to do so.

During the exchange, the driver stated that he should receive at least S$100 in compensation, saying that S$30 was clearly not enough.

The woman was also heard hurling vulgarities at the him in the video, calling him "chao chee bye", while both she and her husband told him to "f*ck off".

Driver allegedly cleaned the car up by himself

In the comments section of the viral video, the TikTok user who posted the video claimed that he was the PHV driver's neighbour.

He alleged that the woman had puked all over the seat and the car mat, but supposedly, there was ultimately no settlement between the two as the woman allegedly refused to pay.

He claimed that the PHV driver had to wash his car by himself for three hours, as the car wash was closed due to heavy rain.

The user also claimed that the driver worked for the ride-hailing platform TADA.

The original TikTok video has since been taken down.

Platform's guidelines

According to TADA's website, drivers can only claim up to S$70 for such incidents.

In response to queries from Mothership, TADA confirmed that it is aware of the incident and has contacted both the driver and the rider involved as part of its investigation.

The company added that the driver's account has been temporarily placed on hold while it reviews the details of the case.

"We take such incidents seriously and work to ensure a fair and transparent resolution for everyone involved, in line with our guidelines."

When asked what drivers and riders should do if they encounter similar situations in the future, TADA advised that drivers should document the incident by taking clear photos of the affected areas before any cleaning takes place.

Drivers should also submit a receipt from a professional cleaning service for verification.

Once the report is submitted, TADA will review the claim and reach out to the rider regarding the cleaning fee.

The rider's account will be temporarily suspended until the issue is resolved.

Mixed reactions online

Many netizens have taken to the comments section to share their opinions about the incident.

Some criticised the driver for demanding an excessive amount in compensation, while others sympathised with him, noting that professional clean-up services can be costly.

Several users also criticised the woman's behaviour.

Some netizens also shared photos of a sign put up at what appears to be a car wash service.

The sign states that they provide vomit clean-up services, priced between S$150 to S$180.
