14 people in S'pore to be charged for alleged membership in vape syndicate
They were previously charged for abetting the possession of e-vaporisers for sale in Singapore.
14 people, allegedly part of a syndicate involved in importing and distributing e-vaporisers in Singapore, will face additional charges in court on Oct. 30 and 31.
In a news release on Oct. 29, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) said that they will be charged for being a member of the vape syndicate, on top of their initial charges.
Men previously charged
Two men, aged 29 and 37 were arrested between Oct. 19 and 23 after initial enforcement operations on Oct. 16 dismantled a 12-member coordinated network, smuggling vapes from Malaysia into Singapore.
The men allegedly served as a "warehouse manager" and "area distributor" within the syndicate.
All 14 suspects had earlier been charged for abetting the possession of e-vaporisers for sale.
They remain in remand to assist with ongoing investigations.
Charges and penalties
They will also face additional charges for being a member of a locally-linked organised criminal group.
If found guilty, they may each face up to five years' jail, a fine of up to S$100,000, or both.
Three of the suspects will also be charged for allegedly allowing premises under their control to be used for the syndicate's distribution activities.

Investigations are ongoing.
