Movies by the beach & other free activities at Sentosa prove you don’t need to spend money to have fun
There’s something for everyone.
Many of us like to enjoy a weekend without having to break the bank most of the time.
However, we often find ourselves bugged by the question: where should we actually go?
Here’s a location you probably might not expect to associate with saving money – Sentosa.
Yes, you saw that correctly.
Beyond the bars, clubs and hotels, Sentosa actually has quite a number of locations which you can enjoy for free all day.
Take a short walk to the island from VivoCity (which is free) to discover these places:
Sensoryscape and ImagiNite
Looking for a place to relax at night and without having to spend?
Why not try checking out Sentosa’s Sensoryscape with its visual treats for the eyes?
From 7:30pm to 9:15pm daily, seven digital light art installations will come alive as part of Sensoryscape’s ImagiNite experience, making use of augmented reality to showcase gorgeous light projections.

That’s not all, however.

Movies by the Beach at Palawan Kidz City Roof Garden every weekend
Alternatively, you can catch a movie for free under the open night sky at Palawan Kidz City Roof garden.
That’s right, every Saturday and Sunday, Sentosa’s Movies by the Beach will screen a movie for free, complete with beach chairs and plenty of space for you to spread out a picnic mat to chill with your friends and family.

In addition, a special Halloween-themed edition has been planned from Oct. 11 to Oct. 26, over three weekends.
Apart from Halloween-themed movies, members of the public will also be able to participate in other fringe activities such as face painting, creating Halloween sand art, colouring your
own pumpkin ornaments, and even trick-or-treat surprises. (Disclaimer: these activities may require some minimum spendings.)
Lovely.
Hikes for the nature enthusiasts
Fancy something a little more active?
You might be pleasantly surprised to know that Sentosa has its own fair share of nature trails for you to explore as well.
There’s the Coastal Trail which snakes through the north of Sentosa, taking you through one of Singapore’s few remaining coastal forests which plays host to a variety of animals including bats, macaques, snakes and squirrels.
At 2.2km in length, it also allows you to soak in an unobstructed view of Keppel Bay.

And yes, you can cycle along the trail too.

That’s not the only trail, however – there’s also the Imbiah trail within Mount Imbiah at 2.3km in length.
Here, you can get up close with flora like the Sea Apple Tree, the Milkwood Tree, and Pandan Palm and with fauna like Golden Orb spiders.
The trail also sports a waterfall called the Tempinis cascade and is named after the local Tempinis trees which grow in the vicinity.

Absolutely gorgeous.
Get your history fix
And of course, there is Fort Siloso itself, Singapore’s only well-preserved coastal fort.
The fort now has a military museum which contains plenty of memorabilia from World War 2, including wax figures of British and Japanese soldiers at the Surrender Chambers.

Voice overs will also automatically play whenever you enter some of the underground tunnels, some of which were used to store ammunition.

Fort Siloso is open from 9am to 6pm, so make sure you plan your trip accordingly.
All in all, pretty cool.
