According to New Straits Times (NST), Penang police chief Azizee Ismail said that Lee Boon Han's cause of death was confirmed in a post-mortem at the Seberang Jaya Hospital in Penang.
Manhunt for suspect launched
Azizee confirmed that there is a manhunt for those allegedly involved in Lee's death.
"We are investigating whether the victim was murdered elsewhere before his body was wrapped, placed into the bag, and dumped in that area," he added, as quoted by Malay Mail.
He said that police are conducting further investigations, such as tracing the suspect involved.
Officers have also found a new lead after discovering a Toyota Vios, believed to have been driven by Lee, about 450 metres from where his body was found, reported NST.
Forensic teams were spotted examining the vehicle and its surroundings.
Body identified by father
Lee was an insurance agent, according to China Press.
Lee's identity was confirmed after his father identified his body at the hospital on Oct. 10 at around 9am, according to The Star.
His father, 69, had filed a police report when Lee went missing on Oct. 8.
He reportedly appeared visibly emotional as he left the mortuary.

His body was later found on Oct. 9 at around 1:43pm by a cleaner in a remote area behind the Ampang Jajar Flats, with his hands bound and neck slashed.
His head was also covered with a plastic bag.
Police have urged those with information to come forward or approach the nearest police station to assist with the investigation.
