PM Wong's wife Loo Tze Lui joins other leaders' spouses in activities during Asean KL summit

Loo Tze Lui, wife of Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, joined other leaders' spouses for a luncheon as part of the Spouses' Programme for Heads of State, held in conjunction with the 47th Asean Summit in Kuala Lumpur.

The programme was hosted by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's wife, Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, on Oct. 27.

In her Facebook post, Wan Azizah shared that she was deeply honoured to host the spouses of nine national leaders.

During the event, she introduced Malaysian heritage and history to the spouses, presented a Malaysian Kebaya showcase featuring five traditional kebaya designs from various Malaysian states, and hosted a live beadwork embroidery demonstration.

Wan Azizah and the spouses also had the opportunity to participate in a terrarium workshop before heading to a luncheon featuring local Malaysian dishes such as keropok lekor, apam balik, satay, soto, nasi kerabu, Penang laksa, and bubur pulut hitam.

Bernama reported that Wan Azizah said the programme reflects the theme of the 47th Asean summit, "Inclusivity and Sustainability".

"Through culture, creativity and shared experiences, we celebrate how true connections are fostered not only in formal meetings but also through moments of joy and friendship," she added.

"Together, we have built meaningful collaborations in education, culture and sustainable development. These partnerships are founded on friendship and a shared commitment to a peaceful, inclusive and sustainable future for all."

According to the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM), this programme goes beyond "a social event accompanying the leaders' official meeting.

"This initiative serves as an important platform for informal diplomacy that deepens human connections among Asean nations," the ministry wrote on Facebook.
