Did you spot a really strange sight when you were out for a meal recently?

Videos of people working as human “Reserved” signs in various restaurants in Singapore have surfaced on various social media accounts last week.

These people were spotted in different restaurants as if to chope tables, and it reminded me of the times when I was much younger, and my mum instructed me to sit at a table while they went about ordering food.

A video posted on TikTok on Oct. 1 showed several people dressed as “Reserved” signs seated at The Feather Blade along Tanjong Pagar Road.

They were doing absolutely nothing except staring blankly into space.

There were other videos of a similar scene at Latteria Mozzarella Bar at Duxton Hill.

Weird much?

Turns out, this was all planned by Grab Dine Out to promote its table reservations feature.

The orchestrated sight naturally drew stares and confusion from passers-by but Grab had a message to send.

You can now chope tables at over 1,500 restaurants islandwide for your preferred timing on Grab Dine Out. This means you don’t need to ask anyone to sit at the tables awkwardly anymore.
