Man, 52, locks family member in Tampines flat with him, gets arrested for breach of PPO
Police investigations are ongoing.
A 52-year-old man was arrested after locking himself in his residential unit with his family member on Oct. 28.
The Singapore Police Force (SPF) confirmed with Mothership that they received a call for assistance at Block 845 Tampines Street 83 at about 3:20pm that day.
Officers from the Special Operations Command, Crisis Negotiation Unit and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) responded to the incident, SPF said.
This was after it was assessed that the man might pose a danger to himself and the family member.
SCDF said they deployed two safety air packs.
Rescuers from Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (DART) were on standby as a precautionary measure.
At about 6pm, police officers managed to gain entry into the unit after the man relented and opened the door, SPF said.
The man was subsequently arrested for breach of Personal Protection Order (PPO).
Police investigations are ongoing.
