Firefighters were seen battling the blaze.

In response to Mothership's queries, the police confirmed that they were alerted to an accident involving a car that was believed to have self-skidded along the TPE towards the Seletar Expressway (SLE), at the slip road near the Central Expressway (CTE) exit.

Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) also confirmed that they were alerted to the incident at about 2:55am.

A person, believed to be a man, was pronounced dead at the scene by a paramedic.

According to SCDF, the fire was extinguished using a water jet andĀ investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.

The Straits Times reported that the vehicle was a BMW 520i.

Following the fire, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) posted an alert on X at around 6:20am, announcing the closure of the SLE exit.

LTA subsequently issued another alert saying that the CTE exit was also closed.

Both exits were eventually reopened at about 9:20am.
