AirJapan will be ceasing all flight operations from March 2026.

This comes about two years after Japanese airline group ANA launched the brand as a "hybrid" carrier serving medium-haul international routes.

The brand will fly its final flight from Singapore to Narita Airport on Mar. 29 at 12:55am.

ANA Group announced the decision in a statement on Oct. 30, saying the decision was part of its efforts to restructure its brand strategy.

Consolidate to two brands

ANA will move from a multi-brand strategy to a dual-brand strategy following the suspension of AirJapan.

Peach will remain its low-cost carrier, while ANA will be the full-service brand for all other flights.

The decision is aimed at maximising the entire group's profitability and competitiveness while flexibly responding to recent changes in the business environment, ANA said.

It cited concerns about changes in the global environment, such as the war in Ukraine and aircraft delivery delays, and added that it is also managing the aircraft on the ground (AOG) situation involving its Boeing 787 aircraft.

AOG is a term used in aviation for a plane that is unable to fly due to a technical issue and requires urgent repairs or parts.

Aircraft and personnel to move to ANA brand

The group said AirJapan's aircraft and human resources will be consolidated into the ANA brand's operations to expand its international business.

AirJapan said on its website that while its last day of operation is Mar. 28, 2026, operations will officially terminate with the following flights:

  • Bangkok to Narita Airport departing at 12:10am on Mar. 29,
  • Singapore to Narita Airport departing at 12:55am on Mar. 29.

"ANA Group will continue to work together as one to provide our customers with a safe, secure, and comfortable air travel experience," the group stated.

Difference between Air Japan and AirJapan

"Air Japan" and "AirJapan" are often confused as the same thing.

They are different concepts within the same parent company, ANA Holdings, which also owns All Nippon Airways (ANA).

AirJapan is the hybrid medium-haul, low-cost carrier brand of the ANA Group, and is ceasing operations.

Air Japan is the legal name of the operating company, Air Japan Co., Ltd., which is a subsidiary of ANA, and will continue to exist and operate flights on behalf of the ANA brand after the separate AirJapan brand is retired.
