Barisan Nasional (BN) youth leader Shahrul Nasrun Kamarudin has been relieved of his party duties following explosive allegations from his ex-wife, Amyera Zainal, who accused him of maintaining a “sex den”, hiring sex workers, keeping a collection of sex toys and subscribing to the adult platform OnlyFans, reported Sinar Daily.

Amyera, an entrepreneur and influencer, made the claims in a series of Instagram Stories earlier this week.

The receipts

She decided to speak out after allegedly being harassed by individuals close to her ex-husband, including that of her ex-husband’s new fiancee.

“This is just a glimpse of why I divorced him,” she wrote, claiming that while he tried to appear to the public as someone seeking a modest, veiled woman, he was in fact allegedly subscribing to OnlyFans.

“If I were to post about all your disgusting behaviour from the start until our divorce, it would not even finish in a month. So, if you know you are filthy, better stay quiet,” she ended the post.

Screenshots and photos she shared later in her Instagram stories appeared to show sex paraphernalia and text conversations that she claimed proved his infidelities.

She alleged that Shahrul rented a secret property to meet with sex workers and mistresses after she began tracking his phone’s location.

“Since he is not able to go to a hotel because I have his (live) location, if he goes there instead it's not considered getting 'caught'. And this is not even the first place; it is the second,” she wrote.

The posts quickly went viral, sparking a wave of public outrage and scrutiny over Shahrul’s conduct and alleged misdeeds.

Netizen reaction

Many netizens called for his resignation, questioning his integrity and suitability as a youth leader within BN.

Others poked fun at the scandal, calling the incident the “beauty blender controversy” due to the resemblance between the sex toys allegedly found in Shahrul’s drawer and the popular makeup sponge.

They also likened Shahrul to Christian Grey from 50 shades due to the nature of his alleged sexual preferences.

Shahrul's statement

In a statement responding to the controversy, Shahrul said he regretted how the matter had unfolded publicly and confirmed that his divorce from Amyera was finalised in July 2024.

“As a human being, I am not free from making mistakes. I do not deny my shortcomings, and what happened in my past marriage is a valuable life lesson,” he said, while emphasising that his fiancée was not involved in the issue, according to The Star.

"I sincerely hope that she will no longer be linked to any form of accusation or slander," he stated in an Instagram post on Oct. 28.

He also warned in his post that he would take legal action against those spreading false information or harassing him online.

Meanwhile, Amyera has stood by her claims and dared Shahrul to pursue legal action.

“Please, go ahead with your legal action if you think I am lying. I am ready,” she wrote in a follow-up post, insisting she has evidence to substantiate her allegations, according to Sinar Daily.

“Eh, wants to sue now? He’s the one who started posting in the first place.

So when he talks about me and posts about me, I’m expected to stay silent?

But the moment I speak up, suddenly it’s all about suing?

That word ‘sue’ is just meant to scare people into keeping quiet.

Sorry, not scared at all. Go ahead then, sue."

BN's statement

The BN youth secretary subsequently announced that Shahrul had been relieved of his duties to give him space “to settle it as he needs to” as reported by Free Malaysia Today.

“The party takes the matter seriously and hopes that he and his former wife can resolve it.”

Party leaders have not confirmed whether further disciplinary action will be considered but emphasised that the controversy was unrelated to any party matters.
