Minister for Sustainability and the Environment (MSE) Grace Fu has been named as one of Time Magazine's 100 most influential climate leaders in 2025.

The Time100 Climate is an annual list highlighting people representing the "power of individuals" to make "significant progress" in influencing the climate economy.

According to Time Magazine, these leaders were selected through their "measurable, scalable" achievements over commitments and announcements, and favoured more recent action.

The magazine noted Fu's position as Singapore's Minister for Sustainability and the Environment and the ministry's part in overseeing climate adaptation efforts like coastal protection and food resilience.

Speaking with Time Magazine, Fu said that Singapore was one of 13 countries to have submitted the 2035 climate pledge by the February 2025 deadline.

She said:

"To prepare for the effects of climate change, Singapore is currently developing our inaugural National Adaptation Plan (NAP), which is a long-term strategy that outlines actions that we will take with Singaporeans to strengthen our climate resilience.

To collectively advance our shared climate goals, I strongly urge more countries to accelerate the development of their NAPs if they have not already done so."

In an Oct. 31 Facebook post, Fu said she was honoured to be included in the list and said the recognition belongs to the officers across various ministries and organisations.

She added: "There is still so much more to do. Let's continue pressing on ahead on both the mitigation and adaptation fronts, with even closer collaboration at the upcoming COP30 and beyond."
