The other SUV crashed into the two burning vehicles after it failed to avoid them, said the fire and rescue station's operations commander, Mohd Hazmi Zulkafli, in a statement.
All four occupants of the second SUV were unharmed.
The two who died were travelling in the car along with two others, NST added.
Meanwhile, the three injured are the male driver of the first SUV and two passengers from the car, NST reported.
Hazmi added that the victims died and sustained injuries due to the collision, not the fire.
Eight firefighters were deployed to the scene at around 11:25am
