Tan Say Lock, 47, an aesthetic doctor, allowed a woman, Xu Hong, without the necessary qualifications, who was not registered under the Medical Registration Act, to administer Botox injections.

According to court documents, these events took place during courses Tan had taught at Parklane Shopping Mall in 2017 and at The Central in 2018.

The 33-year-old Xu had paid S$2,500 to attend the course.

According to The Straits Times, Xu had been investigated for other crimes under the Medical Registration Act, which was how Tan's offences were brought up.

According to ST, the MOH prosecutor said that even if Tan had merely wanted to educate "non-medical professionals" about Botox, he could have provided information on the procedures and not exposed them to risks by allowing Xu to administer the injections.

Tan's defence lawyer said Tan's wife had organised the courses, and he felt he could not reject them.

He added that the Botox injections had been pre-filled by Tan, so there was no risk of an overdose to the participants.

Tan was fined $30,000 on Sep. 3 after he pleaded guilty.

According to ST, the court heard that the wife will pay the fines in instalments.
