For the first time ever, the number "9999" was drawn as the Singapore Pools 4D top prize winning number on Sep. 3, a first since Singapore Pools began running the game in May 1986.
First time
According to the Singapore Pools website, "9999" has been drawn as the winning number 14 times before the Sep. 3 draw, but never featured as the top prize.
Out of these 14 instances, eight were for the consolation prize, while six were for the starter prize.
The previous time it appeared as a winning number was on Apr. 24. 2024.
Repeated digit numbers, such as "9999", are considerably rare winning numbers in 4D draws.
"4444" is the rarest of them all, appearing only eight times as a prize-winning number.
"6666", "8888" and "1111" are tied in second place, with only 10 appearances so far.
The numbers "1111", "2222", "5555", "7777" and "8888" have yet to be drawn as the top prize.
The top 100 frequently-drawn numbers have all appeared more than 21 times.
The most frequently-drawn 4D number is "9395", having been drawn 28 times as a winning number.
This is followed by "5807" and "6741", which have each appeared as the winning number 27 times.
Four-digit lottery was first introduced in Singapore in 1966 by the Singapore Turf Club to curb illegal betting.
In 1986, Singapore Pools, a state-owned entity, introduced computerised four-digit lottery.
