US dentist allegedly kills wife & daughter before committing suicide at S$2.19 million mansion
Tragedy.
The bodies of a dentist, his wife and their 15-year-old daughter were found by police who were conducting a welfare check on the family home in Georgia, U.S., on Aug. 31.
Investigations alleged that the 52-year-old man, James Choi, had killed his 52-year-old wife, Myoung and 15-year-old daughter, Grace, in their US$1.7 million (S$2.19 million) mansion before committing suicide, the police said, according to the New York Post.
The causes of death of the Korean-American family were not disclosed out of respect for the family and "to preserve the integrity of the ongoing investigation", the police added in a statement.
It was also not revealed why a welfare check was being conducted by the police.
Beloved student
Choi was a South Korean native who obtained his dental degree from the University of Tennessee, Memphis, while his daughter Grace was a second-year high school student, NY Post reported.
She was remembered as a "treasured and beloved student", according to a Facebook post by the school.
NY Post also revealed that Grace Choi was an accomplished violinist at her school and had performed at the prestigious Carnegie Hall in Manhattan, New York City, just months before her death.
"We are completely heartbroken. Grace, you are so loved. You make us so proud and you will always be an integral part of our fine arts family," the school's fine arts department posted on Instagram.
Flowers were also reportedly left at the front door of the six-bedroom home.
