SIA flight from Frankfurt to S'pore turns back after almost 4 hours into 12 hour flight
Gostan.
A Singapore Airlines flight from Frankfurt to Singapore turned back mid-flight due to a technical issue.
The plane had been travelling for about 3 hours and 40 minutes.
Turned back
On Sep. 25, flight SQ325 took off from Frankfurt, Germany, to make a 12-hour flight to Singapore that would take it across southeastern Europe and central Asia.
According to Aviation Today and The Straits Times, the flight crew experienced a technical issue while at 31,000 feet over the Caspian Sea in Azerbaijan.
The crew then decided to turn back, about three hours and 40 minutes into the flight.
The Airbus A380 landed back in Frankfurt at around 6.51 am on Sep. 26 (local time), having spent eight hours and 55 minutes in flight.
The passengers are reported to have disembarked without incident.
The flight was subsequently cancelled.
Apologised to customers
SIA has not stated what the issue was, but has said that passengers were provided with meal vouchers and hotel accommodation.
It also said that alternative flight arrangements will be made for them, saying that “the safety of our customers and crew is always our top priority”.
The airline apologised “to all affected customers and for the inconvenience caused”.
In March 2025, an SIA A380 flying in the opposite direction, from Singapore to Frankfurt, also returned to its origin airport for an unspecified reason.
