Singapore has been successfully re-elected to the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

The election was held during the 42nd Session of the ICAO Assembly at Montréal, Canada, on Sep. 27, 2025.

Singapore was re-elected with a "record number of votes", Acting Minister for Transport Jeffrey Siow shared in a Facebook post.

"In a world where rules matter less and small countries find it harder to exert influence, we have to work harder with like-minded partners to secure our interests," Siow wrote.

He stressed the importance of "well-functioning international organisations", like the ICAO, as platforms to build a world where Singapore can do well and prosper.

Singapore was first elected to the Council of the ICAO in 2003 and was successfully re-elected at the subsequent triennial Assembly Sessions.
