3.5-magnitude earthquake jolts Johor around 9am, 1st since Aug. 2025 quakes
There were eight such incidents in August.
A 3.5-magnitude earthquake hit off the waters of Batu Pahat, Johor, this morning (Sep. 27).
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) announced on its Facebook page that the earthquake struck at 9:04am.
Another quake
MetMalaysia said the 3.5-magnitude earthquake occurred 25km Southeast of Batu Pahat.
It added that the tremors of the earthquake with a depth of 10km may be felt around the area.
Series of past quakes
This earthquake comes after a series of earthquakes that hit Johor in August 2025.
It is the eighth such incident since the first one struck Segamat on Aug. 24.
The earthquakes have ranged from 2.5-magnitude to 4.1-magnitude.
Monitoring
MetMalaysia said it continues to monitor this situation.
MalayMail reported that despite the quakes being mild, residents in several districts, including Segamat, Yong Peng and Kluang, previously said they felt the ground shake.
