Tan was charged in court on Sep. 27.
A 61-year-old man, Bill Tan Keng Hwee, has been charged with deliberately intending to wound the racial feelings of a person by mailing an envelope containing a piece of pork to Al-Istiqamah Mosque.
According to court documents seen by Mothership, the parcel came with a note that said "halal BaBi chop".
Following the incident, one person was assessed for breathlessness and sent to Sengkang General Hospital.
Tan was charged in court this morning (Sep. 27).
Straits Times reported the police prosecutor asked for Tan to be remanded for a week for further investigations.
Tan also asked if he could wear a mask if he were brought out for investigations. To this, the judge said it would be for the investigation officer "to decide".
Tan will return to court on Oct 3.
If convicted, he could face an imprisonment term of up to three years, a fine, or both.
