The police have arrested a 61-year-old Chinese man for his suspected involvement in sending a parcel via mail with deliberate intent to wound the racial feelings of a person.

On Sep. 24, around 5:20pm, officers from the Singapore Police Force were alerted to a case involving a "suspicious" and "unknown" parcel that was delivered to Al-Istiqamah Mosque in Serangoon.

It was later confirmed that the parcel contained a piece of meat that appeared to be pork.

The man was arrested on Sep. 25, according to the Straits Times.

Through ground enquiries and images from police cameras, police officers from the Bedok Police Division and the Criminal Investigation Department were able to establish the man's identity.

Preliminary investigation shows that the man is allegedly involved in several similar cases at other mosques in Singapore.

He is set to be charged in court on Sep. 27 for deliberately intending to wound the racial feelings of a person.

If convicted, he could face an imprisonment term of up to three years, a fine, or both.
