China grandma mistakenly uses alcohol instead of water to make milk, baby sent to hospital in a daze
The baby was just over one month old.
A grandmother in China caused her one-month-old grandson to end up in the hospital when she mistakenly used alcohol instead of water to make the baby's milk.
8world reported that according to a China news programme CityReport, the baby boy was only one month and 24 days old at the time of the incident early this year.
Alcohol instead of water
The baby's grandmother had reportedly used alcohol instead of water to make the baby's milk.
She made the baby a 120ml bottle of milk.
Delayed help
The baby's mother said the baby's grandma may have mistaken the clear liquid in the bottles to be water when it was actually alcohol.
The mother said that they reused an empty bottle of purified water and filled it with alcohol. The grandmother may have mistaken it for purified water and used it for the baby.
In addition, the mother said that the baby had already started reacting to the alcohol at around noon.
However, she said the baby's grandmother supposedly only called her at around 4pm to inform her.
By the time she reached home, her child's body had turned red and was in a daze.
She rushed her baby to the hospital for treatment.
Improved health
Now nine months old, the baby is said to be in good condition.
However, the baby will still have to undergo more health checkups in the future.
Netizens suggested that for families with children, it is best not to place too many bottles of liquid around the house.
They also recommended labelling items for easy identification.
