WhatsappWhile riding to his workplace in Singapore on his motorcycle on Sep. 2, a man from Johor Bahru (JB) was thrown off his bike when he was struck by another Malaysia-registered motorcycle.

The accident left the man hospitalised, and his wife searching for the other motorcyclist involved, who fled the scene.

Happened around Thomson Plaza

Speaking to 8world, the man's wife, who was only identified by her surname Chen (transliterated), shared that the accident happened around 9:10am in the vicinity of Thomson Plaza.

"My husband said that the other motorcyclist, who had a Malaysian license plate, was riding recklessly. He was struck when the rider tried to overtake him from his left," Tan said.

Tan, who was in their JB home at the time, received a phone call from her husband's company at around 11am informing her of the accident.

She got a ride from her cousin and rushed down to Tan Tock Seng Hospital after finding out, 8world reported.

"He was unconscious after the accident, had wounds on his face and arm and a fracture in his right foot. He underwent a three-to-four hour surgery and will need another one to reconnect the bones," Tan shared.

Husband the sole breadwinner

According to Tan, both her and her husband reside in JB but her husband commutes to and from work in Singapore each day.

Tan's husband started work less than a month ago at a local supermarket, while Tan is a housewife.

As the sole breadwinner, her husband being in the hospital means that Tan's family have lost their source of income for now.

The couple have a one-year-old child.

She believes that a passer-by helped phone for an ambulance, and hoped that, through the power of social media, they'll be able to find the rider who struck her husband and fled.

"I hope the rider will provide an apology. We're all just trying to get by," Tan said.
