Growing up, I had many childhood dreams. I’m learning that they may not be that out of reach.

Never too late to chase your dreams.

“What did you want to be when you grew up?”

That’s a question that I could not answer because I’ve just had too many aspirations growing up.

When I was still a fairly young kid, I would pretend that I was a teacher one moment, and a doctor the next.

Think those dreams sound common? How about a model, athlete, hairstylist, secretary, air stewardess, etc.

Then came K-pop, and I was singing and dancing as if I would be the next big thing in Korea.

Basically, I wanted to be everything, everywhere, all at once.

But reality check: You’re reading this on Mothership, so clearly I didn’t become any of those things.

Sounds like a downer? Stay with me.

For the dreamers

I’m no way near being a K-pop idol, but I’m learning Korean on Duolingo. Mind you, I’ve been on a streak for more than 300 days.

There are so many more ways you can fulfill your dreams so the kid in you can feel alive.

Go to Funan, for example. It’s basically a playground for grown-up dreamers to play, create, and connect.

You can explore or get started on the “alternate life paths” while getting rewarded for it.

If you’re like me, and have had a celebrity dream for the longest time ever, why not live vicariously for a day by going through a Hallyu transformation?

Pop by Hallyu Hair (#B1-16) to get that flawless blowout, before making a visit to Modparade (#02-21) to complete the look with a new fit.

Main character energy? Checked.

Ready for the next airport fashion? Yes.

Or you prefer to go for something anchored in reality, say mastering a sport?

Taking a quick leaf out of Daniel Ricciardo’s book, the moment you sweat, you are an athlete.

Give climbing or tennis a go at Climb Central (#B2-19/21) and Ace Club Tennis (#04-19/21) respectively, so you can live out your dreams to be a high performance athlete too.

If you wish to look the part, you can also head over to The Pace (#01-28) and Under Armour (#01-09) to get your gears.

Or perhaps, what you really want to relive from your childhood is a stress-free life? You can even pamper yourself with a session of deep sleep dry head massage at Moomin (#B1-19).

The best part of all these suggestions is that they can all be done in one place: Funan.

Never too late

Need some nudging? I once stumbled across this quote:

“If you’re going to miss the bus, miss it running.”

When you run after the bus (figuratively), it means you’re giving it your best shot even if the outcome’s not guaranteed.

That’s when I realise, maybe not all those childhood dreams are dead. They’ve just… evolved.

At 12, I thought I’d be teaching in a classroom. At 20, I thought I’d be on stage. At 25, I thought I’d be… well, somewhere else.

Now I’m 28 and writing this article, but Funan reminds me that those “dreams” were never wasted. They just found different ways to exist.

So if you’re still low-key harbouring those old ambitions (like me), maybe it’s time to give them a go.

This Funan-branded article reminded me that it’s never too late to pursue your dreams (in a different way).
