Genting Dream cruise ship rescues 1 person in distress in the Straits of Malacca

The cruise was a on 3-night voyage between Singapore and Phuket.

WhatsappAfter sighting a person in distress over the waters in the Straits of Malacca on Sep. 3, the crew of Genting Dream successfully carried out a rescue operation and pulled the individual to safety.

In a press release, StarDream Cruises, previously Resorts World Cruises, wrote that the cruise ship was on a voyage from Singapore to Phuket when its crew observed an individual signalling for assistance.

The ship's crew initiated rescue procedures and the person was brought onboard safely.

The individual was provided with food, refreshments and a medical assessment by the ship's medical team.

"The individual is currently in stable condition and receiving care," StarDream Cruises wrote.

"Ensuring safety at sea is our foremost duty. I am proud of the captain and crew's vigilance and professionalism in carrying out this successful rescue," Michael Goh, President of StarDream Cruises, said.

The cruise line is coordinating with the relevant authorities to arrange for the individual's safe transfer to shore.
