MRT services between Woodlands & Yishun disrupted due to train fault, subsequently resumed
An additional travelling time of 25 minutes was expected during the disruption.
Train services on the North South Line (NSL) were disrupted due to a train-borne signalling fault on Sep. 2, 2025.
Transport operator SMRT Corporation (SMRT) announced on Facebook at 8:22pm that train services were down between the Woodlands and Yishun stations.
Services subsequently resumed by 9pm.
Disruption due to train fault
In a statement on its Facebook page, SMRT said at 8:34pm that passengers should expect an additional travelling time of 25 minutes towards Marina South Pier during the disruption.
Free regular bus service are available and provided to affected commuters between the two stations.
They were also advised to take the Thomson-East Coast Line at Woodlands station.
In another update at 8:48pm, SMRT confirmed that train service between the affected stations is progressively returning to normal.
The free regular bus service remains available for users.
Services resuming progressively, SMRT apologises
SMRT president Lam Sheau Kai said in a Facebook statement at 8:54pm that a train-borne signalling fault had occurred between Woodlands and Yishun stations, in the direction of Marina South Pier.
The incident occurred at around 8:05pm, and SMRT staff were immediately deployed to look into it.
The affected train was taken out of service and affected services progressively resumed from about 8:50pm.
Free regular bus services were provided between the two stations, with station staff assisting commuters.
"We apologise for the disruption and sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding," Lam said.
