The People's Action Party (PAP) and the Workers' Party (WP) moved towards each other in terms of credibility in 2025's general election, at least according to one survey conducted by the Institute of Policy Studies (IPS).

According to the IPS Post-Election Survey 2025, the two parties converged in overall mean scores on credibility.

The PAP saw a slight dip (4.1 to 3.9) while WP remained the same (3.9), as compared to IPS's study of the 2020 general election.

The study polled 2,056 Singapore citizens aged 21 and above from YouGov’s online panel.

They were asked a series of questions, including about their perceptions of the credibility of both parties.

Of those who responded, 26 per cent "strongly agreed" that PAP is a credible party, with 43 per cent agreeing, for a total of 69 per cent.

18 per cent gave a neutral response, while 7 per cent either disagreed or strongly disagreed with that statement.

This resulted in a mean credibility score of 3.9 for the PAP.

This was a slight dip from the mean credibility score of the PAP in the post GE2020 survey, which was 4.1.

Workers' Party

For the WP, 24 per cent "strongly agreed" that it is a credible party.

This was a lower score than the PAP's 26, but it was an increase from the same question in 2020, where 20 per cent responded so.

41 per cent agreed that the WP is a credible party, a noticeable dip from the 59 per cent in 2020.

Those who were neutral on the question for the WP increased from 14 per cent in 2020 to 22 per cent in 2025.

6 per cent either strongly disagreed or disagreed that WP is a credible party.

This resulted in a mean credibility score of 3.9, the same as they scored in 2020, and the same as the PAP's score for this survey.

Other parties

IPS also surveyed the credibility scores of political parties other than the WP and PAP.

The Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) obtained a mean credibility score of 3.3, with 36 per cent of respondents either strongly agreeing or agreeing that it is a credible party.

This bettered the performance of the Progress Singapore Party (PSP), which unlike the SDP, had two Non-Constituency Members of Parliament after GE2020.

PSP had a mean credibility score of 3.2, with 34 per cent either strongly agreeing or agreeing that it is a credible party.

This was a dip from its mean credibility score of 3.5 in 2020.
