A Cuban man was arrested on Sep. 10 after he allegedly beheaded a motel manager in front of his wife and child, and kicked the severed head like a football.

The incident in Dallas, Texas occurred on the same day political activist Charlie Kirk got shot and killed.

But fresh attention has been directed at it after United States president Donald Trump commented on the incident on Sep. 15.

Suspected was cleaning motel room

The 37-year-old suspect, Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, is an illegal immigrant with a lengthy criminal history.

The 50-year-old victim, Chandra Nagamallaiah, was a Downtown Suites motel manager.

Cobos-Martinez was cleaning a room with another employee at the motel on Wednesday morning when he argued with Chandra, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

Chandra told the pair not to use a broken washing machine.

Suspect got irritated

Cobos-Martinez became irritated when Chandra got a motel worker to translate the instructions instead of speaking in Spanish, the document said.

The suspect left the room, pulled out a machete and slashed Chandra.

The attacker gave chase.

The manager ran to the motel’s office, where his son and wife were, and they tried to intervene, but failed.

Graphic videos of the incident can still be found online, but most of the footage has been removed.

Hacked at victim

Surveillance video footage showed Cobos-Martinez continuing to hack away.

He did so until Chandra's head was removed from his body, it was reported.

Cobos-Martinez then kicked Chandra's head twice into the parking lot, picked it up and threw it in the dumpster, police said and footage showed.

Police later found Cobos-Martinez still holding the machete while covered in blood, a few blocks away.

Previously detained

Cobos-Martinez was previously detained by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), but was released under the Biden administration, an ICE spokesperson said.

He could have potentially been deported.

“This barbaric criminal was released because Cuba would not accept him because of his criminal history,” they said.

The spokesperson added: “Reportedly, Cobos-Martinez then kicked the head of the victim ‘around like a soccer ball’. ICE has lodged the detainer with the Dallas County Jail, where this criminal illegal alien is being held.”

Case underreported?

Following the alleged brutal murder, the Indian community in the U.S. expressed their outrage online that American media had underreported the case.

Trump’s comments on Sep. 15 have brought fresh attention to the incident.

He slammed the killing and listed Cobos-Martinez’ previous crimes.

“I am aware of the terrible reports regarding the murder of Chandra Nagamallaiah, a well-respected person in Dallas, Texas, who was brutally beheaded, in front of his wife and son, by an ILLEGAL ALIEN from Cuba who should have never been in our Country,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

He continued:

“This individual was previously arrested for terrible crimes, including child sex abuse, grand theft auto, and false imprisonment, but was released back into our Homeland under incompetent Joe Biden because Cuba did not want such an evil person in their Country."

“Rest assured, the time for being soft on these Illegal Immigrant Criminals is OVER under my watch!"

“This criminal, who we have in custody, will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the Law. He will be charged with murder in the first degree!”
