M'sia man, 30, gets stuck in KL MRT pillar while allegedly stealing cables

Firefighters had to rescue him.

A man, 30, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, got stuck in the gap of a mass rapid transit (MRT) train pillar, while allegedly attempting to steal cables.

The local fire department had to rescue him.

The Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI) Fire and Rescue Station in Kuala Lumpur confirmed that a man was stuck.

The incident occurred on Sep. 11, at around 2:40am.

The man's predicament ironically occurred next to a fire station.

“The operation to lower the man, believed to be Malay, took place around 2:38am near the MRT tracks next to the TTDI Fire and Rescue Station,” a statement said.

Rescued and referred to police

A total of 12 fireman were dispatched to the scene.

The man was rescued using an aerial ladder platform.

It was unclear why the man appeared half-dressed when he got stuck.

There was also no mention about how he got there in the first place.

It was later reported that the man was allegedly in the midst of stealing cables from the MRT when he got stuck.

He was referred to the police and it was reported that he was suspected of being involved in cable theft activities.
