On Sep. 25, a joyous celebration turned to tragedy when a groom in Egypt collapsed and died suddenly while dancing with his new bride at their wedding, reported The Daily Mail.

Footage of the heartbreaking moment was captured in a video now circulating on social media.

In the clip, Ashraf Abu Hakam, 28, was seen beaming as he held hands with his wife-to-be.

They were filmed dancing at their wedding reception surrounded by cheering friends and family.

A traditional Egyptian wedding typically spans several days.

It is typically preceded by a henna night, during which the bride’s hands and feet are decorated with elaborate patterns to symbolise happiness and fertility.

In the video, Ashraf was waving a Saidi stick while his wife also carried a matching one.

A Saidi stick is a reed pole that is used as a prop during traditional dances, often performed at weddings and other special occasions.

Towards the end of the footage, Ashraf suddenly collapsed to the ground as onlookers immediately rushed to him and screams filled the air.

On Egyptian social media, where the clip had gone viral, many expressed shock and offered their condolences.

“He was full of life, smiling, excited for his future,” one wrote, as quoted by Gulf News.

According to The Daily Mail, attempts to revive him failed, and doctors later confirmed that he had died of a sudden heart attack.
