A 50-year-old man, who was riding a motorcycle, died in an accident in Punggol on Aug. 12 morning.

A Singapore Civil Defence (SCDF) spokesperson told Mothership that the man who died was an off-duty Singapore Civil Defence Force officer.

In response to Mothership's queries, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) said they were alerted to an accident involving a motorcycle and two vans along the junction of Sumang Link and Punggol Way at around 6:45am.

The male motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The pillion, a 15-year-old boy, was conveyed conscious to the hospital.

The two male van drivers, aged 40 and 54, are assisting with investigations, said SPF.

Police investigations are ongoing.

In a post on Facebook, one witness saw several police officers at the junction, which is located near Punggol Cove Primary School.

Two police officers appeared to be holding a police tent, while a white sheet was on the road.

"SCDF extends our deepest condolences to the family of the late officer. SCDF is in contact with family and is providing assistance during this time of grief," said the SCDF spokesperson.
