Train service is down on Aug. 12 at about 11:40am between Farrer Park and Punggol Coast stations along the North East Line (NEL) due to a power fault.

The service disruption was announced by SBS Transit on its social media accounts.

"Free regular and bridging bus are available between Dhoby Ghaut and Punggol Coast stations," SBS Transit wrote in the announcement on X.

The Sengkang and Punggol LRT lines are also down.

Regular NEL service is still available between NE1 Harbourfront and NE8 Farrer Park, SBS Transit said.

On the Reddit forum, one user posted about a power trip at Serangoon MRT station.

Mothership reader also shared that they experienced a power outage at around 10:55am at Serangoon MRT station.

SBS Transit said at around noon that service "may likely take two to three hours to restore".

This major incident comes just a week after Acting Transport Minister Jeffrey Siow said recent rail disruptions were “disappointing".

This was after a five-hour disruption occurred on the East-West Line on Aug. 6.

Earlier on Jul. 1, train services on the Thomson-East Coast Line were disrupted for over an hour due to a signalling fault.

On two separate occasions in July, the Bukit Panjang LRT system was hit by power-related suspensions.
