OK Chicken Rice and Humfull Laksa has closed its outlet at Blk 660A Edgedale Plains in Punggol.
The announcement was made in an Aug. 10 Facebook post.
In it, the owner of the stall, Daniel Tan, pointed out how well-received the stall was — 4.7 stars on Google reviews — and how good business had been doing — about S$1,000 a day.
Despite the positives, he found it ultimately necessary to close the stall.
Responding to queries from Mothership, Tan said even with the relatively brisk business, the stall is still losing an average of S$1,000 to S$3,000 a month after cost is taken into account.
Tan also noted that sales at their other outlets were averaging around S$2,000 a day.
The biggest expenses for Tan are rental and manpower.
Tan added that the chain assured employees that they would not be let go, but just redeployed among their other stalls.
The chain is also not leaving Punggol as there is an outlet at Block 308C Punggol Walk at Foodgle.
They have 16 stalls in total in Singapore.
