Gan Kim Yong to visit China, will meet with VP Han Zheng & Vice Premier He Lifeng
His visit coincides with the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Singapore and China.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade & Industry Gan Kim Yong will make a working visit to Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Beijing, China, from Aug. 31 to Sep. 4.
During his visit, Gan will be accompanied by Senior Minister of State for Culture, Community and Youth and for Trade and Industry Low Yen Ling, as well as officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Trade and Industry.
Visit coincides with 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Singapore and China
Gan's visit coincides with a series of commemorative bilateral milestones in 2025, such as the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Singapore and China, as well as the 15th anniversary of China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City (CSGKC).
During his visit, Gan will be meeting several of his counterparts to discuss new approaches to strengthen ties between the two countries, and to exchange views on regional and international developments.
In Guangzhou and Shenzhen, Gan is set to meet Governor of Guangdong Wang Weizhong and Secretary of the CPC Shenzhen Municipal Committee Meng Fanli respectively, while also visiting the CSGKC and engaging with the Singapore companies there.
He will also visit several Chinese companies and engage Singaporeans at a reception in Shenzhen.
DPM to attend China's 80th Victory Day parade
Upon arriving in Beijing, Gan is expected to attend commemorative events marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II on Sep. 3, at the invitation of the People's Republic of China.
The celebration, formally known as the 80th Anniversary of the Victory in the War against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, will be held in the form of a large military parade.
Following the event, Gan will meet with Vice President Han Zheng, Vice Premier He Lifeng, and Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao.
