ICA gives M'sia border agency 68th birthday cake & 68 cupcakes for Merdeka Day

To mark Malaysia's upcoming 68th National Day, commanders from the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) presented their Malaysian counterparts with a birthday cake.

Merdeka Day falls on Aug. 31.

68 cupcakes, each emblazoned with the number "68", were also included in the feast.

In an Aug. 30 Facebook post, ICA shared photos of the birthday celebration.

Officers from Woodlands and Tuas Checkpoints, as well as the corresponding Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) and Bangunan Sultan Iskandar CIQ, were seen posing with the cakes.

"We are thankful for the strong partnership as we work together to keep our borders secure. We look forward to continued collaboration and ensuring smooth trade and safe travels between our land borders!

Happy 68th Birthday, Malaysia!"

Annual tradition

It's become a bit of a tradition for border agencies on both sides to celebrate momentous occasions together.

Just recently, the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency presented ICA with this adorable SG60 birthday cake:

It's not just birthdays either. Earlier this year, both agencies exchanged gift hampers and cakes to celebrate Chinese New Year.
