2 men involved in Hougang car crash arrested after vapes & suspected drugs found with them
Both drivers were arrested for suspected drug-related offences.
Two drivers who got into a car accident on Aug. 30 were arrested for suspected drug-related offences.
Vapes and possible drug substances were found in their cars.
The police told Mothership they were alerted to the accident along 120 Hougang Avenue 2 at 12:15am on Aug. 30.
The drivers involved were two men aged 28 and 40.
According to eyewitnesses who spoke to The Straits Times, the 40-year-old driver in a Toyota slammed into the stationary Mazda that the 28-year-old was in, causing the Toyota to flip onto its side.
A witness said that the Mazda driver subsequently ran out of his car towards the nearby housing blocks, while another witness added that the man looked like he was trying to dispose of something.
He later returned to the accident scene, and both drivers were questioned by the Traffic Police, ST reported.
Drivers and cars searched
When the police searched the cars, they found e-vaporisers and pods in the Mazda.
According to ST, a backpack in the Mazda contained dozens of e-vaporisers, including vapes laced with etomidate, a substance to be listed as a Class C drug from Sep. 1.
The 28-year-old driver was arrested for drink-driving and suspected drug-related offences. The vapes seized have been referred to the Health Sciences Authority, the police told Mothership.
The 40-year-old driver was also arrested for suspected drug-related offences.
When the police searched him, they pulled out a plastic bag that held a crystal-like substance believed to be a controlled drug, ST reported.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force, who also arrived at the scene, said they assessed a person for minor injuries, but the person declined to be sent to the hospital.
The suspected drug offences have been referred to the Central Narcotics Bureau, the police said.
Investigations are ongoing.
