Body found in East Coast Park waters identified as missing boy, 11, with nonverbal autism
He was last seen in the morning of Aug. 29, a day before his body was found.
The police has confirmed that the boy found dead in the waters of East Coast Park on Aug. 30 is Muhammad Hairil Bin Muhammad Effendi, an 11-year-old with autism who went missing.
The body was identified by the boy's next-of-kin.
Hairil was last seen at 29 Marine Crescent at around 11:05am on Aug. 29, according to missing posters that circulated on Facebook that day.
Around 9:55pm on Aug. 30, his body was found floating in the sea off East Coast Park, and subsequently pronounced dead on the scene by a Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) paramedic.
Preliminary investigations do not suspect foul play. Police investigations are ongoing.
