2-year-old boy in China stays by 28-year-old dead mother's side for days before neighbours find them

A young single mother, 28, suddenly died at home in Cangnan County, Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province, China and her son, 2, stayed with her body for several days before being discovered by neighbours.

China Press reported that on Aug. 17, neighbours found the boy and his mother. By then, the boy had had spent a few days with her body before neighbours found him.

The neighbours then called the police.

Single mother

The Cangnan County Women’s Federation confirmed that the mother died while her son was at home, according to Dimsum Daily.

The public security bureau launched an investigation after receiving a report on Aug. 17. Preliminary findings indicate that the deceased woman who lived with her two-year-old son was a 28-year-old identified as Zheng.

She had raised him alone after divorcing his father.

After the boy underwent a medical examination at a hospital in Cangnan County, he was found to be unharmed and in good health. Officers reportedly paid for his medical examination with their own money.

Investigations into the mother's cause of death are ongoing.

Reunited with father

The boy is currently with his father.

Local township authorities and associated departments are providing support and assistance to the family.
