A Turkish ice cream seller in Istanbul, Turkey got into trouble recently after he was filmed putting an ice cream cone into a female customer's cleavage.

The act, which was part of his antics whilst serving the customer her order, resulted in his shop in the Beyoglu district of Istanbul being closed by local authorities in July.

Put cone into customer's cleavage

A 14-second clip circulated to social media showed the customer standing outside an ice cream stand holding an empty cone.

The seller, who was holding a scoop of ice cream in one hand, took more empty cones from a stack.

He made as if to give the woman her ice cream, but instead left an empty cone in her hand.

With his other hand, he put another empty cone into the customer's cleavage.

This elicited a gasp from the person filming the scene, as the woman quickly removed the cone.

The seller continued his antics, and subsequently held onto the woman's right hand, while holding out the ice cream and asking her to try it.

I froze and felt helpless: Customer

On Jul. 7, a user who claimed to be the female customer posted about the incident on Reddit to seek advice.

She said she was on a layover in Istanbul, and decided to explore the market in Beyoglu before she had to leave the next morning.

She alleged that the Turkish ice cream man sexually harassed her by putting the cone in her cleavage with his hands.

She said she froze and felt "helpless" at the point of time, and could only smile to mask her emotions.

"I felt disgusted, humiliated, angry, sad and more angry at myself for not standing up," she wrote.

Shop closed by authorities

On Jul. 8, Inan Guney, mayor of Beyoglu, posted a video on X, which showed police officers removing equipment from the shop and loading it onto a vehicle.

Guney said in the post that their municipal police teams had shut the establishment.

"Beyoğlu is a district where all women can walk safely, and we will take every measure to ensure it remains so," he wrote in Turkish.
