Cambodian soldiers had opened fire at a Thai military base in the northeastern province of Surin and launched rockets towards Si Sa Ket, Thailand, Bangkok Post reported.

Two videos posted on Facebook earlier today allegedly showed two of Thailand's F-16 fighter jets being shot down.

Same videos used in previous wars

However, they appear to be old videos that previously circulated online.

The first video appears to be from the recent Indian-Pakistan conflict, while the second video is allegedly from the Iran-Israel conflict.

Royal Thai Air Force denies rumours

The Royal Thai Air Force stepped up to deny the rumours in a post on Facebook.

They said the rumours that their F-16 fighter jets were shot down were fake news.

4 Thai civilians dead after Cambodian shelling

According to The Nation, two Thai civilians were killed after a Cambodian artillery shell hit at a petrol station in Si Sa Ket, Thailand, causing an explosion and fire.

This takes the death toll from the border clashes to 4.

Bangkok Post, citing the Thai military said that the Cambodian military action was aimed at a Thai military base in the northeastern province of Surin, and launched rockets towards Si Sa Ket.

The Nation reported that Sutthiroj Charoenthanasak, chief of Surin’s Karb Choeng district in Thailand, said this morning that two BM-21 rockets fired from Cambodia fell on the Ban Jorok village in Tambon Dan, Thailand, killing two and injuring four.

Of the four, two died en-route to the hospital.

The other two injured were an adult and a 12-year-old boy.

Another shell also reportedly fell outside the fence of Phanom Dong Rak hospital in Surin, which had already evacuated all the staff and patients.

Thailand launches 2 air strikes on Cambodia

Following the shelling, according to Royal Thai Army deputy spokesperson Col Ritcha Suksuwanon, six F-16 fighter jets were deployed from Ubon Ratchathani province in the late morning and hit two "Cambodian military targets on the ground", Bangkok Post reported.

The interior Ministry stated that preparations are underway to evacuate civilians as a precautionary measure in border areas of four provinces.

According to Cambodia's defence ministry, the jets had dropped two bombs on a road and the ministry "strongly condemned the reckless and brutal military aggression", ABC News reported.
