Mediacorp actor Ayden Sng, 31, was filmed getting into an argument with his co-stars on the Chinese reality show "Smile At You", which centres around 35 young male stars running cafes in China.

The newest episode, which premiered on Jul. 19, showed Chinese singer Yu Jingtian, 22, confronting Sng's team for being late and what he saw as a neglect of responsibilities.

Poor sales & delays

Sng's team, consisting of Zeng Wenyuan, Shark Park, and Ke Hong, lost in an earlier challenge against Jingtian’s team and was supposed to run the latter's coffee truck in their place.

Sng's team ended up only selling a few cups of beverage due to the pouring rain.

They even went on a trip to Kunming to participate in a coffee expo, leaving the coffee truck out in the rain overnight in the outdoor parking lot.

It also meant that operations ceased for one day.

The teams had planned to meet at 3am to hand over the truck, but the meeting was delayed.

Tensions rose when Jingtian's team realised that the other team was three hours late because they were doing their hair and makeup.

Poor communication

Jingtian's team then called for an intervention with Sng's team, where they confronted the latter for not having personally texted them about being late.

Sng was seen looking incredulous with a smile on his face and shaking his head slightly.

"Is this funny to you?" Shi Zhan asks Sng.

Sng then exited the room, which led to Jingtian standing up and flipping the table in rage.

Jingtian followed Sng out of the room, and he was accompanied by his teammates, who could be seen trying to calm Jingtian down.

Shi Zhan then asked Sng if he thought he was a "big shot", to which Sng replied, "It's not about being a big shot or not. This is a programme."

Shi Zhan then said, "I don't care if it's a programme. You didn’t do things right, whether during the show or outside of it."

"What's your reason for telling me this now?" Sng rebutted at one point.

Shi Zhan then walked back to the room, where the other two teams continued discussing what happened.

Sng explained to a cameraman that he felt such a confrontation was "unnecessary" as the other team would have been informed of the schedule delay by the production team.

Reconciling

The episode ended with the teams reconciling after they explained what had happened on both ends and how the miscommunication may have arisen.

Viewers commented online that they have mixed reactions to the argument, with some saying that Sng should have communicated better to resolve the issue.

Others defended the actor, arguing that Yu's outburst was unwarranted.
