A former police officer has been slapped with 15 charges on Jul. 25 for sex-related offences involving at least six boys.

Sharizal Bin Shafi'ee, 40, allegedly molested and recorded minors performing sexual acts.

According to chargesheets, Sharizal's offences involved three 14-year-old and three 15-year-old boys.

These were allegedly committed while he was still with the Singapore Police Force (SPF), which he has since left, reported The Straits Times.

Allegedly persuaded boys to perform sexual act over Telegram

Sharizal allegedly persuaded a 15-year-old boy to perform a sexual act over a video call via messaging platform Telegram on Jul. 31, 2023, in a Jurong West flat.

Chargesheets say he used his phone's screen-recording function to record the boy doing so, thereby creating child abuse material.

On Aug. 20, 2023, he allegedly committed similar offences involving a 14-year-old boy and again two days later.

He then allegedly did the same to a second 15-year-old boy on Nov. 12 and 17, 2023.

Allegedly targeted three boys in one day

On Apr. 18, 2024, Sharizal allegedly targeted three different boys in one day.

At about 2:30pm, he allegedly attempted to get a 14-year-old to perform an obscene act along a pavement of Jurong West Avenue 1.

He apparently did so by telling him he needed help adjusting his bra and asking the victim to follow him, so that he could touch the victim in an obscene manner.

Later, between 2:47pm and 2:52pm, he allegedly used criminal force to outrage the modesty of another 14-year-old, at the staircase landing between two floors of a flat in Jurong West.

He is said to have touched the victim's private area.

Sharizal then allegedly persuaded a third 15-year-old to do a sexual act over a video call via Telegram and recorded it.

Case to be heard again next month

Sharizal’s case has been adjourned to Aug. 22, 2025.

If convicted of molestation, he can be jailed for up to three years, fined, caned, or any of the three.

For each count of producing a sexually explicit video showing a minor, he can be jailed for up to 10 years and fined or caned.
