MMA fighter knocked out security guard at M'sia condo, backstory revealed

Two men in Malaysia decided to let their fists do the talking in front of a condominium in Seri Kembangan, Selangor.

One man prevailed and the other was seen getting knocked down, and apparently hit the back of his head.

It later transpired that the victorious sparrer was a trained mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter.

Videos of the altercation that apparently took place on Jul. 10 has been shared widely online.

Security guard vs MMA fighter

A man in a black top, who was allegedly a head security guard at the Malaysia condominium, was seen behaving aggressively.

He was allegedly known for frequently harassing people.

In the clip, the man in the black top could be seen repeatedly taunting the man in the pink singlet, saying: "Punch me! Are you a boy or a girl? If you're a boy, then hit me."

He also hurled slurs at the man in pink, calling him a "pondan" (meaning "a male who is feminine") and accusing him of being scared to fight.

A woman at the scene was seen trying to intervene.

The man in black poked the man in pink in the face, which kickstarted the physical exchange.

Man in pink had upper hand

The man in pink then attempted a successful take-down and mounted the man in black, who was then put in a chokehold.

Both men had by then landed in the bushes outside the condominium.

The man in pink could be heard asking other security staff to call the police, but was told to release the man in black instead.

Passers-by and security personnel could be seen trying to break the men up, as the man in pink established top position and wrist control.

The man in black appeared helpless and attempted to roll out of the bottom position.

The attempts to break up the fight appeared futile.

Restart fight

After the man in pink got off and back on his feet, the man in black immediately tried to restart the fight.

Both men then started to throw haymakers, with the man in pink showing superior punching and kicking stances, as well as better head movement, which hinted at his trained fighter background, even though he was physically smaller.

The security guards at the scene were observed letting both combatants take swings at each other.

The altercation continued for another minute or so as the man in black appeared to gas out.

But he then approached the man in pink again and the fight was back on.

More punches were thrown.

The man in pink successfully landed a spinning back kick.

Fight ended with punch

The fight then came to an abrupt end when the man in pink punched the man in black in the face and sent him falling backwards into a metal pole.

An audible thud could be heard.

Man in pink identified

The victorious fighter has since been identified as Tony Lim, 22.

He explained on social media that he was acting in self-defence.

Lim said he recognised the security guard, who was seen in another video apparently assaulting a condominium resident.

A post on Facebook, claiming to be Lim's brother, alleged that the security guard confronted Lim for taking the earlier video of him allegedly "being violent with a resident".

The altercation between Lim and the security guard started when the security guard suddenly pointed at Lim, while he was collecting a parcel.

Lim apparently asked why he was targeted and was told by the security guard that he was the one who made the earlier video circulate widely online.

"To clarify, I am not the one who viralled (sic) the video. I just want to say simply: The guy provoked me, and I just defended myself," Lim said.

Security guard removed

The security guard has apparently been removed from the condominium's security team, Lim said.

New Straits Times reported that the condominium's management and the security company involved has not responded to the incident.

Malaysia police not intervening

The Malaysia police said, according to the NST: "Both men lodged police reports on Jul. 10 and decided they were willing to make peace with one another, so we closed that case."

However, police are also investigating the circulation of the video and are currently looking for the person who uploaded it.
